Deakin University researchers are looking for men aged over 18 years and living in Australia to take part in an online survey on their expectations of and experiences with psychological therapy.

The project titled “Engaging Men in Psychological Therapy” is led by clinical psychologist and specialist in men’s mental health, Dr Dave Demmer. It aims to understand men’s experiences and expectations of psychological therapy, and examine any barriers that men may face when seeking support for mental health issues.

Participation in the study is voluntary and anonymous. We don’t ask for your name or any identifying information. The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. It is anticipated that the findings may help to provide information on the characteristics of men who may be more or less likely to engage in psychological services, as well as what men initially expect from psychological therapy as a whole. Understanding these important factors will help psychological services to better meet men’s needs, and further inform public education and understanding of the important issue.
